| 2007-06-04 It's been a while since I threw out some thoughts but it's better to have something to say. I could tell you I brushed my teeth today and got a haircut-but that probably won't make a mark on the universe. I had a great writing experience and personal moment yesterday after our gig got rained out at the Arts in th Park festival. I spent some time out in the rain, but not with a jacket, umbrella or others around. It is very Zen moment when all you hear and feel is the rain. No cars, no people, just the inner mind and getting all wet wasn't so bad either. Finding "Inner Peace" is a struggle for many of us- trying to escape from everyday life or keep the peace at the center of it all. You have to try the rain "technique". All kinds of stuff comes out. This thought had high impact for me - To calm our own heart and unlearn the habit of self-abandonment is the beginning of the process. Now is as good a time as any to start . . . David Zee

2007-02-25 Smokin' show Saturday. We had a tremendous crowd with some great energy. Scott Lerner gave some nice texture and intensity to the show and is a welcome addition to the band. Barry Sames also sounded great on the keys and our singers, Serena, Ken and Lauren were heavenly. I invite feedback from fans and stimulating conversation. You all have always been "food for thought". Lots more coming so check back frequently. David Zee

2007-02-09 Hey out there. Met a 91 yr old man the other day that proved the age old rule that we are social animals. He had been married 4 times, had many girlfriends and still actively dates! He still yearns for love and relationship in his life- what an awesom guy. Of course he is a musician too . . . I am thrilled to share some special talents with you at the next show on the 24th of February. Guitar giant Scott Lerner, Barry Sames on Keys and a few other suprises too. I would love to see ya there! David Zee

2007-01-07 Happy New Year to all. I hope that this year brings us all one step closer to peace and mutual respect. Way too much fighting going on over pride and ego. Even with all of our differences, we really are all the SAME. Had a great show last week with guest Leisha, a renowned bellydancer. She teaches bellydancing and performs regularly in and around Philadelphia. She really "moved" the audience and we loved her on stage too -thank you Leisha. You will all have a chance to check it out in the photos section. New events coming very soon too. Feel free to email your thoughts for 2007. They might even end up on the website . . . David Zee

2006-10-25 If you haven't tried it, take a trip to Sedona. It is spiritually enriched and there is really something to the red rock. I was entranced by the wooden flute, the sounds of the desert and some of the local people. Good will come of the experience on many levels. David Zee

2006-10-16 I had the priviledge of bringing some Inner Peace to the Sisters of the Holy Redeemer. Sister Sophia was celebrating her 50 years of service to Holy Redeemer hospital and the community. She really a very special person. It was pretty powerful to sharing with 30 sisters. They felt it and so did I! David Zee

2006-10-11 The gig at the Jewel wine and food fest was really fun. I met a lot of great Philly personalities. Jewel really found a way to combine taste, style and music for a good cause. All of the guests were really supportive and the vibe was nourishing. We had a cool experience working with other Philly jazz and blues musicians too. I look forward to future events that support education of our youths. Let's face it - when you look at the youths around you, you are looking your future right in the face. . . David Zee

2006-07-12 Last week I watched lightning pass 10 feet over my head and strike my house. It was pretty wild to be that close to death. To be gone in just one flash . . . in an instant. We are constantly reminded of our mortality. We lose a friend, family member or even a pet and it all seems so inevitable. The only thing that is truly inevitable besides death is that in the time we have, we have to dig what we do and just let it out now and then. Remember, when you die, you are dead a long time . I hope to see you all at the concert in a couple of weeks. We will have guest percussionist Josh Robinson with us that night and we are gonna kick it! I invite you to feel it with us. David Zee

I am rolling out some new tunes that will be featured on the next album. I also officially welcome my new guitarist - Jim Farrington. He will be sure to serve up some "tasty treats" at the gig. I look forward to seeing all of you again and I welcome the newcomers that are expected too! Check out the news page for other updates. David Zee

2006-04-04 This new local tour has proven very fruitfull. We have grown together so much as a family and with some recent changes, have improved our goals 300% anticipated. This is what will bring us to all you readers in other areas of the U.S., Japan and Europe. I am pleased and honored to have those of you interested from square one. You truly are in for the long ride - and what a sweet ride it will be. We will see what L.A. and NYC think about David Zee in April.
Dealt a lot with "right to die" these past two weeks -very heavy. Send me your thougts about the topic. This topic very important and great food for musical thought :) David Zee

2006-03-19 Had an interesting revelation. I always sing about the importance of taking chances and not letting life just pass you by. I still feel these are important values and should be kept in the forefront. We all let the dream die because we are too busy getting to work and trying to satisfy so many needs. It seems that no one else really cares about the dream or that they already lost his or her own. Even though we live a juggler’s existence we still need to find the way to feel fulfilled. This way is through signature moments. These moments are like islands in a sea of chaos that hold it all together. The goal is to leap from island to island and to believe the next step will hit the next rock. If you don't keep leaping, that island and that sea will become a very lonely place . . . David Zee

2006-02-12 I am looking forward to sharing some new material with the fans at this week's gig. Songs are really like children. You think a lot about them before you have them. You consider just how lucky you are to have the opportunity to improve the planet in some way. Then you get to the fun part -making the child. When you first bring the child home, you get to share your handywork (love-work) with everyone. Finally, the punch line - people are touched in their own way by this new life or force and it changes all of them in some way. This is the dream of the songwriter and musician - to make this difference . . .you just can't beat it! David Zee

2006-01-16 To all my fans, thank you for being a part of the music. Everyone that came to Grape Street last week was so connected and really "showed up". There was such a wide variety of people there -from different ethnicities and belief systems. There was no shortage of smiles, kissing and hugs to go around. These connections are even more appropriate to reflect upon on Martin Luther King, Jr. day. I do believe his dream will be realized some day -it must flourish for us to survive these troubled times. There in the front row was the promise of tomorrow - three children, who's eyes were filled with innocense and wonderment. Our children should always remind us of a part we put aside early on. A cloak that we struggle so early on to unrobe.I try to re - learn this from my children everyday. I really enjoy being there to listen without talking, loving without condition and connecting my spirit to theirs, effortlessly and openly. It doesn 't get any better than this folks! David Zee

2005-12-29 I have been thinking about all the wonderful people that I have had the priviledge to meet and interaction with this last year. As this year rolls into the next, I would to thank my fans for their support and love. Sharing lives and feelings with others is really where it's all at. I wouldn't do it without all of you. I would also like to thank the members of the band for hours and hours of excellence. I hope to see all of you readers at the next gig on January 7th at Grape Street in Manayunk. It will no doubt be a very special night! David Zee

2005-12-08 I spent some time last night writing some new material with an old friend. This master guitarist is not only skillful, but a romantic, and it is no suprise that in the end we ended up writing yet another love song. There are many facets of life to talk about, but love is always so . .inviting. I guess it's because love really does touch everyone on many levels and in different ways. I think it's where it all starts . . . and finishes. David Zee

2005-11-28 Performed a set at my high school reunion last weekend. Interesting to experience the various depths of human development in one room. But we all shared one thing in common. The undying need to stay connected and feel loved . . . it felt good! David Zee

2005-11-16 Started writing some new lyric last night which embraces life and its nuances. One cannot just "exist" in life. We should all "live" until we die. Otherwise, what is really the point? David Zee

2005-10-31 Had a cool development for the Grape Street gig. We have developed a new set based around a new groove, highlighting our funky new bass player Tom. Should be a very soulful interaction with the fans; the way I like it best -Up close and personal! David Zee

2005-10-22 I am constantly reminded by everyone around me of the need for inner peace. I saw my patient Betty Ann today. We remembered Joe, her husband whom she lost a year ago. Betty always understood the need for inner strength and a real connection to people. Joe learned this through Betty and left this world a much better man. David Zee
